Fun Blips About Moi
1. Story Time: My user name stems from a conversation I had with an old friend a few years back. At the time, my grandma was trying to piece together our family tree, and every few weeks she would update us on what nationality her side of the family was. So, I kept my friend updated because my nationality kept changing, and we found it kind of amusing. I went from being part Polish and German; to being Polish, German, and Austrian; to being Polish, Austrian, and Russian; to being just Polish (well, in my case, I'm about 50%). My friend said to me after one of my nationality updates, "well, at least I can count on you always being Polish," or something along those lines. Hence the name, [info]forever_polish.
2. My mom says that I'm a rattlesnake. While I am sweet, if you bug me enough, I strike back (re: I get bitchy and mouth off).
3. I am an art history major with aspirations to go to graduate school for museum studies. I volunteered at at the Detroit Institute of Arts and I volunteer at the Rochester Hills Museum so that I can make this dream a reality.
4. I have relatives who, after twenty-four years of being related to me, still cannot spell my name right.
5. I get hit on by every loser within a ten mile radius of me. It's really quite an accomplishment that I'd rather not have.
6. I am the lightest drinker you'll ever meet. It's kinda pathetic.
7. I can walk on the knuckles of my toes without the aid of ballet slippers.
8. I hate waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to see anything, so I sleep with a night light.
9. I can crack just about every joint in my body.
10. At every family gathering on my mom's side of the family, there's usually someone there that I've never met, and I find myself wondering, Who the hell is that person, and why the hell are they here?
11. I think flowers are the most stupidest, cop-out gift ever (unless it's Valentine's Day or you're trying to grab the initial attention of some chick). They cost a lot of money, they die, and I don't like receiving flowers the way most girls do. I'd rather a guy not waste his time buying them for me. I appreciate a package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups more than I do a bouquet of flowers.
12. Humidity makes my hair become an afro.
13. Centipedes scare the hell out of me. Well, actually, all bugs do, but centipedes are by far the creepiest things I've ever seen.
14. One day, when I was working at Huntington Bank (I no longer work there), I was really bored, so I started making a ball of rubber bands. It's the size of a soft ball. I feel like a proud mama.
15. After years of driving a car that was trying to kill me, I am now in a helathy relationship with a 2004 Saturn Ion.
16. I like to pretend I can sing as well as Whitney Houston in her prime while I'm driving in my car. In reality, I sound like Kermit the Frog on helium.
17. It's going to take a super stellar guy to convince me that having his kid is a wonderful idea.
18. I refuse to accept that Anderson Cooper is gay. It's not fair that someone that good looking is off limits to me.
19. I am obsessed with multi-colored striped socks.
20. My New Year's Resolution is to become a vegetarian.
21. I can't help but smirk every time I hear Shining Star, by Earth Wind and Fire, because I start thinking about that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine dances:

22. I can eat a jar of green olives in one sitting.
23. People are always astonished and saddened to hear that I've only seen about 40 movies in my lifetime. It's not that I don't like movies. I don't like watching them by myself because then I don't have anyone to discuss the movie with.
24. I'm sick on every holiday. This has happened my whole life. My body doesn't discriminate. I'm sick on Jewish holidays, Australian holidays, you name it. Even new friends have noticed this and make jokes about it.

If you think I'm cool or interesting, add me and I'll more than likely add you back. If you show no interest in my journal, however (like, never commenting), I will take you off. :)

"Now I know what I've been looking for all these years...myself! I've been waiting for me to come along! And now I've swept myself off my feet!"
--Jerry Seinfeld

"At some point, you have to make a decision. Boundaries don't keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That's how we're made. So, you can waste your lives drawing lines, or you can live your life crossing them. But there are some lines that are way too dangerous to cross. But, sometimes people miss out on the best things in life because they are too scared to take a chance. But here's what I know...If you are willing to throw caution to the wind and take a chance, the view from the other side is spectacular."
--Grey's Anatomy

"There's a point in your life when you get tired of fixing everything & trying to make everyone happy. When you finally decide to quit, it's NOT giving up. its realizing you dont need certain people and the bullshit they bring in to your life."
--Grey's Anatomy

"The early bird catches the worm; a stitch in time saves nine; he who hesitates is lost. We can't pretend we've never been told. We've all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to 'seize the day'. Still, sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we can't anymore, until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and that even the biggest failure, even the worst most intractable mistake, beats the hell out of never trying."
--Grey's Anatomy

"Who gets to determine when the old ends and the new begins? It's not on the calender, it's not a birthday, it's not a new year. It's an event, big or small, something that changes us. Ideally, that gives us hope, a new way of living and looking at the world, a way of letting go of old habits, old memories. What's important is that we never stop believing, but it's also important to remember that amid all the crap, there are a few things worth holding on to."
--Grey's Anatomy

"Time waits for no man. Time heals all wounds. All any of us wants is more time. Time to stand up. Time to grow up. Time to let go."
--Grey's Anatomy

"What's worse, new wounds which are so horribly painful or old wounds that should've healed years ago and never did? Maybe our old wounds teach us something. They remind us where we've been and what we've overcome. They teach us lessons about what to avoid in the future. That's what we like to think. But that's not the way it is, is it? Some things we just have to learn over and over and over again."
--Grey's Anatomy

"The thing about plans is they don't take into account the unexpected, so when we're thrown a curve ball, whether its in the O.R. or in life, we have to improvise. Of course, some of us are better at it than others. Some of us just have to move on to plan B, and make the best of it. And sometimes what we want is exactly what we need. But sometimes, sometimes what we need is a new plan."
--Grey's Anatomy

"Change; we don’t like it, we fear it, but we can't stop it from coming. We either adapt to change or we get left behind. And it hurts to grow, anybody who tells you it doesn’t is lying. But heres the truth: the more things change, the more they stay the same. And sometimes, oh, sometimes change is good. Oh, sometimes, change is ... everything."
--Grey's Anatomy

"At the end of the day faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don't really expect it. It's like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it's not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now. See once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you, and once in a while people may even take your breath away."
--Grey's Anatomy

"All our young lives we search for someone to love, someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope, all the while wondering if somewhere and somehow there is someone searching for us."
-The Wonder Years

"In your life you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you. And then there are some you wish you never had to think about again, but you do."
--The Wonder Years

"Change is never easy. You fight to hold on. You fight to let go."
--The Wonder Years

"Growing up is full of big moments. Some of them you can see coming from a mile away; and some you can't see at all."
--The Wonder Years

"Things never turn out exactly the way you planned. I know they didn't with me. Still, like my father used to say, 'Traffic's traffic, you go where life takes you.' Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next you're gone, but the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a time, a place, a particular fourth of July, and the things that happened in that decade of war and change. I remember a house like a lot of houses, a yard like a lot of yards, on a street like a lot of other streets. I remember how hard it was growing up among people and places I loved. Most of all, I remember how hard it was to leave. And the thing is, after all these years I still look back in wonder."
